Our baby and pre-school lessons are from birth to 4 years old and our programme is a wonderful bonding experience. Progressive lesson plans instil water-confidence and a love of swimming whilst our expert teachers tailor activities to your child’s abilities and needs.
Taught in lovely, warm pools with a maximum of ten children, our classes incorporate rhyme, music and movement based on extensive child development research; we are the only national baby swim school that is 100% child-led. Our lessons are so well-received that the children we teach can often swim over 10m before they start school.
89% of our customers recently surveyed said they chose ‘Water Safety and Personal Survival Skills’ as the reason they chose to join Puddle Ducks.
Drowning is the 5th leading cause of accidental death in 5-9 year-olds in Europe and the 6th leading cause for 1-4 year-olds. As children get older and more mobile their vulnerability around water increases, babies who are not yet mobile and dependent on the person looking after them can drown very quickly and in very little water (so little we may not perceive it to be a risk) such as a bucket, bowl or toilet. Toddlers and children who are more mobile but not as aware of the risks of their surroundings or not yet physically able to pull themselves out of the water are also at risk especially around paddling pools, ponds, rivers, pools etc.
Every year Puddle Ducks hold ‘Water Safety Awareness weeks’, these are weeks dedicated to instilling core personal survival skills. At many of our pools parents and children are encouraged to wear their pyjamas. Wearing pyjamas in the pool (for both children and adults) allows them to feel what it would be like to have the extra weight of clothes and how different it feels and that they can still do movements such as kicking to the surface, turning in the water, reaching, holding on and navigating their way to safety.
“I am so excited for our lessons to start up again at the Carlton Hotel in Bournemouth. Pre Covid it was always such a popular location due to its proximity to the town centre and beach, its large car parking area and small, intimate pool. It’s also a great pool to socialise with new friends with the option to enjoy a coffee afterwards in the hotel.”
Jane Bozic, Owner of Puddle Ducks Dorset.
A spokesperson from the Carlton Leisure team said: “We are all looking forward to having Puddle Ducks join us again. I know you will enjoy our pool, especially in the spring when the sun is shining down on you.”
Lessons at the Bournemouth Carlton Hotel start from Thursday 13th March
10am Kickers (15 -30 months)
10.30am Little Dippers (30 months – 4 years)
11am Splashers (6 – 15 months)
