Mrs. Ward was appointed by Park School and its Governing Board at Forfar Education during the summer of 2024, following a robust recruitment process that included many strong candidates. Having worked in education for over 20 years, Mrs. Ward has joined Park from her post of Head at Heathside School Hampstead, a co-educational preparatory school in London. Prior to this, Mrs. Ward worked for the Eaton House Group of Independent Schools, where she was a Deputy Head for 10 years. Following the acquisition of Eaton House by Dukes Education, Mrs. Ward worked for several Dukes schools sharing her expertise, particularly in Early Years and safeguarding.
As a trained Montessori teacher, Mrs. Ward is passionate about making sure that every child has strong foundations and develops a love for learning, commenting that, “I am incredibly honoured to be serving as the new Headteacher at Park School. From my very first visit, I felt a deep alignment between my own ethos and values and those that define this wonderful school. The welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community were immediately apparent.”
Park School, located on the leafy Queens Park Drive South, is part of the Forfar Education group of schools and is well known in Bournemouth for its high quality education provision for babies and children from the age of 3 months to 11 years. Rated ‘Excellent’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, a new and spacious baby unit within the school’s nursery was also rated ‘Outstanding’ in 2024. The school has benefitted from other significant investments and enhancements to its facilities during the last 12 months that includes a modern music suite featuring soundproofed studios and new music equipment, and two new outdoor play areas with wooden climbing apparatus.
At Park School, a carefully crafted curriculum promotes learning, personal growth and development. It includes not only the opportunities and requirements of the National Curriculum, but also an extensive range of extra-curricular activities and experiences that enrich the experience of the children. This is true of both the nursery and the school, meaning that every child in its care can develop individual skills and interests.
Over the next few months, Mrs. Ward is looking forward to getting to know the pupils and their families a little better. She has already become a familiar face around the school and has worked with the school’s Senior Leadership Team over the last few months on a number of projects. Mrs. Ward is also keen to collaborate with colleagues across Forfar Education’s other eleven schools and nurseries across the country.
