About Pho Bournemouth
Stephen and Juliette Wall opened their first Pho restaurant back in 2005 after they travelled to Vietnam and fell in love with the food and alongside other Pho restaurants around the country Bournemouth opened it’s doors in February 2023 serving great value, healthy Vietnamese food that’s cooked fresh in their kitchen daily.
More than a quarter of their main menu is vegan, and they’ve just teamed up with THIS isn’t chicken to launch their first completely vegan menu!
Although I didn’t bring the kids along for this visit their kids menu is pretty good looking! Here is what they have to say:
If your little ones are turning into foodie explorers or you’re on the hunt for some noodle-icious dishes for your kids to try, we’ve got the perfect menu for you. From mini phos, perfect for your budding slurpers, to a variety of noodle dishes; ideal for mastering the ultimate noodle twirl straight through to chicken nuggets skewers, we have something for everyone to enjoy; even for the fussiest of eaters.
Our kid’s menu includes a meal and a drink for £6.95, plus to help keep the little ones busy it includes our very own Pho cartoon who needs to be coloured in before he flies off into Pho-space!
So, grab your mini-Pho VIPs, twirl, and slurp those noodles to your hearts content as it’s time for the fun to begin! Check out the full Pho Restaurant kids’ menu here.
Upon entering the restaurant we immediately where drawn to the cool interior and some of the seating had a great view of the open kitchen and the chef cooking which especially with kids is always a fun thing to watch whilst waiting for your food.
I decided to treat my friend to a lunch date so we opted for a window table after all it was a gorgeous day outside and the windows where open to let some fresh air flow through.
After looking at the menu with so much choice our server Ivy was absolutely brilliant explaining some dishes to us and she even helped us choose when we told her our preferences. To be honest neither my friend or myself have ever eaten Vietnamese food before so we where excited to try it out!
Starting with the drinks we went for dragonfruit with pink lemonade & coconut water with fresh pineapple juice both very refreshing I preferred the Dragonfruit lemonade because it was bursting with flavour!
For starters we couldn’t say no to a dish of prawn crackers with sweet chilli sauce (who where massive) and we also got the summer rolls which was made w fresh rice paper summer rolls with vermicelli & pickle and prawn and I went with the seafood spring rolls which where large crispy spring roll of tiger prawn, crab & pork with nước chấm dipping sauce. Both where a great light starter and perfect for any seafood lovers. I particular liked the lettuce wrapped around my spring roll dipped into the sauce both dishes had very tasty fillings.
For our mains we went with chicken & prawn noodles – wok-fried noodles with all the trimmings, topped with chicken & prawns. The dish was rich in flavour and had a slight kick of spice to it perfect for my friend who enjoys her meals a bit spicier. I could not decided between any of the meat so the 3 meat rice bowl was perfect and it was served with pork, beef & chicken plus topped with loads of veg & herbs. The pork was my absolute favourite so soft and the whole bowl was packed with flavour and the portion was very generous!
Despite not finishing my main (which I took home and had for dinner) we both wanted to try some of the delicious sounding deserts and they did not disappoint! We shared the crispy banana fritters with a coconut sorbet (fresh sorbet meets crunchy sweet bananas what a delight!) plus 2 scoops of raspberry & alphonso mango sorbet. I am normally a huge mango sorbet fan but that raspberry sorbet was out of this world good!
My friend then also ordered a CÀ PHÊ which is a rich coffee from Caphe VN served with condensed milk. It was a tad too sweet for her liking. We ended out lunch date with a belly food of delicious food and already contemplating when to return next!
I am looking forward to returning with the kids because Mini Mumbler is a huge noodle fan so I know she would enjoy it as much as I did!
Another thing to mention is their menu is 98% gluten free, and they have been accredited by Coeliac UK for nine years! All the desserts are gluten free too. The only thing thats not GT is the Spring rolls, seafood spring roll & some of the beers. But the Bún dishes can be ordered without spring roll on request.
