Children aged 4-11 can visit their local library and take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. You’ll discover fantastic new books, unlock rewards along the way, and achieve something amazing this summer.
To complete the challenge, children need to read 6 books over the summer holidays. They can read any books they enjoy and they will get rewards along the way and a medal and certificate when they have completed the challenge!
If you have a child under 5 they can take part in the mini challenge. They can collect a sticker for every story they’ve shared with a grown-up and will get a gold medal sticker when they’ve enjoyed 6 stories!
Pop in to your local library to ask about signing up your child for the Challenge. Some libraries will provide our dedicated Mini Challenge materials for pre-schoolers; others encourage pre-school children to take part using the main Summer Reading Challenge materials.*

Children can take part online by signing up here, on the official Summer Reading Challenge website. You can set up a profile for your child with a reading goal and log their books. When they reach their goal, you will unlock a virtual badge and certificate.
