Camp Bestival presents An Afternoon at Lulworth – online event

August 1, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Roll up, roll up…ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls…join us on Saturday 1st August for An Afternoon At Lulworth in aid of The Trussell Trust. Taking place in the online world of Facebook and YouTube, our friends from Caravanserai and Bollywood invite you to view an afternoon of delectable entertainment featuring arts, music, circus, dance, campfire cooking and more.

“For our Afternoon At Lulworth we’ve pulled out all the stops to create a proper Camp B alternative experience. We love pop, big acts and headline moments at Camp Besti but the living heartbeat of what we do is also about the amazing leftfield, alternative, arty vibes that we create in our micro venues. Caravanserai is possibly the best festival venue in the world – a mad mish mash of old circus rides, highwires, antique gramophones, odd men in top hats and svelte acrobats swinging across the heads of the crowd. We also love our food and cooking on open fires so are honoured to have Food_Fire_Knives filmed down at the beautiful Lulworth Cove as well as a Bollywood dance workshop from our in-house expert tutor Farrah.

We can’t be in a field with you this summer, but we can do our damnedest to bring the field and the Camp Besti vibes to you, so sit back, relax and gather the family for a beautiful Afternoon At Lulworth.” Robby & Josie

“We so miss you guys this year! We decided to ask some real Camp Bestival heroes to come down to Lulworth and bring some of the vibes we`d expect from this amazing event. We hope you enjoy it.
Big ups to the team that make this great event happen: the Arts Council of England, Global Local scheme, the Lulworth Estate for letting us film, Jay Drone and Vasco for the amazing films, Cara and the Creative Crew who are absolutely special to this event.” Chris Tofu (Continental Drifts), The Caravanserai host who has more toast than Warburtons.

Tune into Camp Bestival’s YouTube & Facebook channels to view and watch out for set times announced nearer to the event.

Meet our Afternoon At Lulworth cast in the words of Chris Tofu:

Rimski and Handkerchief – Camp Bestival manages to find so much “other world” stuff, and in this case, if anyone visited Rimski’s hidden venue last year they will know that. Rimski and Handkerchief now have millions of hits for their show, and this was the first escape from their Yard of Wonders.

Cirque Bijou Presents Jacob Hi-Ho on the Highline, and Acrobatics with Ben & Darine – Jake and his team, we all know from balmy evenings hanging above our heads in Caravanserai.

Thrill Collins – Have brought so much joy to all of us, playing acoustic, Sundays just aren’t the same without their Skiffle versions of Jungle and Drum and Bass, and a whole load more Urban bangers made acoustic!

Beans On Toast – Jay Beans on Toast is our ‘Festival’ poet, his tunes and whole approach reflects the fantastic human spirit of great Festival like this, he’s playing a special family set .

Jaz Delorean (Tankus The Henge)- Jaz grew up in the Vintage Fairground Carters Steam Fair, he manages to bring a living breathing version of the Caravanserai. His act Tankus the Henge was the first act to appear in our Caravanserai venue at Camp Bestival.

Dat Brass – True Campo Folk Heroes, who can be found around the festival site and campsites and playing legendary gigs for anyone lucky enough to stumble upon them. The UK’s best Young Brass band meets Hip Hop Special.

Farrah’s Bollywood Dance – Farrah has been setting the Bollywood Tent on fire for the last couple of year’s with her Bollywood Dance workouts. Tune in and be prepared to get sweaty.

Lee Moreton (Food_Fire_Knives/Feed The Soul) – Our friend Lee brings holistic, organic, plant based health food using Mother Earth’s most pure ingredients and raw camping fire cooking. If you’re after a nutritious wellness boost, and want to see food cooked in ways that seem unimaginable, make sure you take a trip to Lee’s incredible food stall at Camp Bestival.

Plus join us for a special afterparty on YouTube brought to you by family-friendly rave experts and Bollywood party starters Big Fish Little Fish with special guest Slipmatt bringing you an hour of absolute classics to round things off and get the kids nice and calm before bedtime 😉

If you’re enjoying the entertainment and are able to spare anything, please follow the donation links for our charity partner, The Trussell Trust. We’re looking forward to bringing the magic of Caravanserai and Camp Bestival to your front room. 🌈✨

Our charity partner: The Trussell Trust
The Trussell Trust is a charity that works with a network of more than 1,200 food bank centres across the UK to provide emergency support to people with no money for food and work towards a future where no one needs a food bank.

More and more people are being forced to food banks because there’s nowhere else for them to turn. Last year the food banks in The Trussell Trust’s network provided 1.6 million three-day emergency food supplies to people in crisis and over 500,000 of these went to children. This was an increase of almost 20% on the previous year. Your generous support means food banks will be able to continue to provide the lifeline of emergency food to people in crisis.
