This October half-term Discovery Village invites children aged 1-8 years to join Solomon Skeleton’s Trick or Treat Adventure — a fun, heartwarming Halloween experience!

Solomon, a friendly skeleton, feels sad because he looks different from the other children in the village. However, through a magical adventure filled with songs, dance, and imaginative play, Solomon learns that being different is what makes everyone special, and deep down, we are all the same.

Children will help Solomon on his journey of self-discovery, singing along to lively tunes and moving to spooky (but not scary!) dances. The adventure is designed with young children in mind, featuring gentle lighting effects that create a magical atmosphere without being too dark or spooky. There’s also a special Halloween trick-or-treat trail where little adventurers can collect treats while they help Solomon make new friends and feel included.

Everyone is encouraged to come in their very own halloween attire!

Little Murmur by Aakash Odedra Company is a new dance theatre show for families and schools, that features groundbreaking projection, an extraordinary soundscape and a blizzard of paper and confetti! Come and enjoy this half term treat of a show and workshop.

 Saturday 26th October 2024 I 1pm & 4.30pm with a workshop at 2.30pm

“This was one of THE most beautiful pieces of children’s theatre I have ever seen… which also made me feel very seen” (Audience member)

Diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, Aakash Odedra found school very challenging: he misspelt his name until he was 21 and it wasn’t until he “found the missing ‘A’” that he felt he belonged.

This stunning visual treat is an honest and heart felt conversation about the trials and tribulations of living with dyslexia, facing challenges and overcoming the odds.

Watch bodies and words fly like flocks of birds, a murmuration, a little murmur.

Experience The Little Murmur Workshop

For the full experience why not take part in The Little Murmur workshop before or after the performance at 2.30pm for the chance to express yourself!  Show and workshop are £8 each or why not book both performance and workshop for £12.

Suitable for ages 5+

Location: Pavilion Dance South West, Lower Gardens, Bournemouth

Halloween is “spook-tacular” at Monkey World! We’ll spread the spooky fun throughout half-term, with creepy crafts, terrifying trails and plenty of fang-tastic activities for kids to have a go at!

On 31st October, children in full Halloween fancy dress will receive free entry to Monkey World! Best costume will receive a prize, in the FREE fancy dress competition!

As well as over 230 rescued monkeys and apes, visitors can try and spot our very own “creatures of the night” the slow loris, as they travel around their moonlit, night simulation enclosure.

Combining fun with conservation, free daily talks by the dedicated Primate Care Staff explain all about man’s closest living relative. Pre-bookable guided tours are also available, as well as video talks and a self-guided talk accessed via your own smartphone device.

Once you’ve seen the stars of TV’s Monkey Life, your little monkeys can let off some steam in the Great Ape Play Area, the south’s largest adventure playground.

You can support Monkey World in continuing their rescue and rehabilitation work by taking part in the Adopt a Primate Scheme which includes a photograph, certificate, three editions of the Ape Rescue Chronicle and free entry to the park for a year! All funds from adoptions are used solely for the rescue & rehabilitation of primates in need around the world.

Our Baby & Pre-school programme is taught in lovely pools with a maximum of ten children, our classes incorporate rhyme, music and movement based on extensive child development research.

Progression through our classes is 100% child-led and our teachers tailor lessons to suit your little one’s ability and confidence. Babies as young as six months learn water safety and personal survival skills and our school children also learn life-saving skills.

Many can already swim 10m before they even go into reception!
