AD – Review. Last week Georgia from Dorset Mumbler and myself decided to have a little Mumbler team meeting and catch up and what better way then to do this over some delicious Afternoon Tea at The Connaught Hotel and Spa in Bournemouth.
We went for the traditional Afternoon Tea which is priced at £18 per person or £17.50 each when there’s two or more people.
Our traditional Afternoon Tea included:
A selection of tasty sandwiches
Two fluffy scones with clotted cream and jam
A selection of miniature cakes
A pot of tea of your choice
The food was delicious my favourite was the light mousse desert in the glass as well as the macaroons and the fruit layered in between the dessert plate was just the right touch in between the cakes and the portions where just perfect for the 2 of us it didn’t look much but at the end we didn’t even finish the desert plate after all!
We loved that the Scones where still warm and of course I had to ask the #Mumblerhood which way is the correct way to eat your scones and the results where pretty obvious with clotted cream being the winner by 65% to be allowed on the scone first!
I find it fascinating that there is such a debate about it! Either way both the wrong and right way tasted delicious and I have to say that I prefer the jam on the bottom because then you can just plonk the cream right on top and spread it round more easily!
The Connaught Hotel and Spa selection of Afternoon Tea’s are fantastic for any occasion from special treats for birthdays, anniversaries or even Mother’s Day to relaxing Baby Shower celebrations or just to catch up with friends! They have a variety of Afternoon Tea packages alongside the traditional one which includes one with Champagne, Gin or Prosecco! And throughout December they also offer a Festive Afternoon Tea which would make a great little group outing with friends for a little Christmas celebration! All Connaught afternoon tea is also available as a vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free afternoon tea option at 48 hours notice.
Booking isn’t essential, but we recommend making a reservation in advance so that we can guarantee availability.

The Connaught Hotel and Spa is perfectly located just a few minutes’ walk from Bournemouth beach and a five minute walk to the town centre. I love the whole flair and ambience of the Hotel and was lucky enough to return that weekend for Mr. Mumblers Goddaughter’s wedding. We had a lot of kids running around and the Staff where amazing with them and couldn’t have been more helpful, the food was delicious and the very same restaurant room where we had Afternoon Tea was transformed three times throughout the day to host the wedding ceremony, wedding breakfast and in the evening the dance floor with tables surrounding it.
