Do your kids love following trails? Mine have been busy with some of the awesome trails Dorset attractions have organised for little explorers this summer. Here are a few reasons why:
- Trails are a great way to keep kids busy and engaged during outings. They provide purpose to your day.
- Most trails are outdoors, a great opportunity to get to enjoy your time in nature and get to know your surroundings.
- They are usually very cheap or even Free!
- Because they are so inexpensive, each child usually gets one activity sheet or pack, so even tiny toddlers can take part.
Here are some of the best we’ve found in Poole and nearby:
- Brownsea Island: Part of their Summer Holiday Adventures, little ones can follow the tree climbing trail to the natural play area. As a bonus, they also get to tick off one of the 50 things you need to do before you are 11 and 3/4 by the National Trust. FREE but normal admission prices apply.
- Moors Valley: The treasure Hunt Challenge helps kids learn about the animals that live at Moors Valley. £2 per activity pack.
- Kevin’s Adventure at Stour Valley Nature Reserve and Kingfisher Barn Visitor Centre: Help Kevin on his adventure around the River Stour. £2.50 per pack and the activities change every week.
- Compton Acres: Follow the Summer Garden Trail at this gorgeous location. Find the forbidden treasure chest, picking up clues along your way. FREE but normal admission charges apply. Kids 4 and younger go FREE.
