You’ll see mermaid tails appearing in Boscombe, Bournemouth, Castlepoint and Christchurch libraries during April and May. They’re part of the Julia’s House Great Tail Trail, and have been decorated by local schools. Download the app to follow the trail – there are over 80 tails around BCP.

The Reading Agency has just announced the theme for the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge: Story Garden – Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors. This exciting new theme will inspire children to tap into a world of imagination through reading, exploring the magical connection between storytelling and nature.
Details of how to take part will be in libraries in the next few months.
